Memphis Stone & Gravel, a leader in the construction and aggregate industry, was awarded a 2023 Community Relations Excellence Award by the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA). The company’s North Plant location received the Bronze Level accolade.
This award recognizes NSSGA producer members for their contributions from the previous year to the communities in which they operate. In addition, this award recognizes companies striving to enhance public perception of their facility, their company and the aggregates industry as a whole.
“Our mission statement extends beyond mining the very best in aggregate resources,” said Taylor McPherson, Director of Communications and Community Engagement. “Through our community engagement program, we remain steadfast in our commitment to make a difference in the lives of Mid-South neighbors that have generously supported our family of companies over the years.”
Memphis Stone & Gravel’s North Plant won the award for community engagement efforts, which included a Day of Service on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, a community meeting with neighboring residents, and advocacy efforts with local government to educate on responsible reclamation efforts. With these combined efforts, the overall company believes this program is the true culmination of their mission statement: “Helping communities where we live and work to thrive.”
“The Community Relations awards highlight the integral part that facilities play in their local communities,” said NSSGA President & CEO Michael Johnson. “Strong community relations efforts create strong relationships at every level which allows for our member facilities to continue to succeed and thrive. It is my pleasure to recognize all our winners today.
