Memphis Stone & Gravel Plans for 9th Annual MLK Day Of Service

On January 16, 2023, Memphis Stone & Gravel and sister-company Lehman-Roberts Co. will kick-off their 9th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. More than 250 employees will begin the morning in fellowship with nearly 15 non-profits as they work to tackle service projects in neighboring communities.

Encompassing 40+ individual projects, this initiative will benefit the Memphis and north Mississippi areas. A tradition adopted by the family of companies in 2015, this event is seen as the culmination of their mission statement – “Helping communities where we live and work to thrive.”

In short, each organization that is impacted through the day’s events specializes in fortifying resources and services for the community, namely in the areas of education, evangelism and community development.

“MLK Day of Service marks a fresh start to the year for many of our team members – one that is looked forward to with great anticipation,” said Pat Nelson, Chairman and CEO. “We are honored to use the legacy left by Martin Luther King Jr. to fuel this comradeship for a greater good.”

2023 partnerships will include Advance Memphis, Alcy Ball Development Corporation, Alpha Omega Veterans Services, Baptist Children’s Village, Knowledge Quest, Memphis Athletic Ministries, Multinational Ministries, New Hope Christian Academy, STREETS Ministries, and SCORE CDC. New partnerships will include the Boys and Girls Club of Grenada, Impact Ministries, Memphis Tabernacle, and Palmer Home for Children.
