Memphis Stone & Gravel, sister company of Lehman-Roberts Company, today announced that Hal Williford, president and chief executive officer, was named chairman of the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) Board of Directors. He will hold the position until the next Annual Convention.
“It’s an honor to be named chairman and to have the opportunity to serve the members of NSSGA,” said Williford. “I look forward to working with the board and all members to improve NSSGA and better serve our industry.”
As chairman, Williford is eager to continue improving the Rocks Build America strategic plan, as well as continue growing NSSGA membership, especially among small and medium producers. He believes that these smaller companies are crucial to the grassroots advocacy campaigns, and since they make up a large section of the industry, should have a voice.
After graduating from the University of Memphis, Williford began his career at Lehman-Roberts in 1985 serving as a quality control technician. Since then, he has worked his way up serving as manager of materials and quality control, vice president and now president of Memphis Stone & Gravel. He is an active member in the aggregates industry and has served on the Lehman-Roberts, Memphis Stone & Gravel, Associated General Contractors of West Tennessee and Tennessee Infrastructure Alliance boards. Additionally, in 2009, he served as president of the Tennessee Road Builders Association and chaired the NSSGA Government Affairs Committee from 2008 to 2010.
