||Perry Plant - Senatobia, Ms.|
On August 18, 2005 Memphis Stone & Gravel Co. broke ground for construction of a new sand and gravel wash plant at our site in Tate County, MS, approximately 8.5 miles west of Senatobia. At full production the plant will serve customers in our Memphis and North Mississippi markets currently served by plants in DeSoto County, MS. Over 400,000 cubic yards of earth were excavated and placed to construct process water ponds and level the approximately 45 acre site. The site drainage and ponds are designed to facilitate non-discharge of plant process water and therefore lessen impact on the surrounding environment.
The processing plant was designed by Southern Machinery, Inc. of Nashville, TN and the firm is also managing the construction of the processing facility. Erection of plant facilities began the first week of November 2005 with completion scheduled for the second quarter of. 2006. The plant will have full production capacity of 1,000 plus tons per hour of washed sand and gravel.
In conjunction with the processing plant, additional upgrades also benefiting the surrounding community have been, or will be, made. Sections of JJ Ranch Road and Hogfoot Road leading to the new plant have been upgraded and repaved. New power transmission lines will be installed for electrical service to the plant. Also, planning is underway with county officials for a new section of road from state Highway 4 to JJ Ranch Road that will improve traffic flow once the plant is in production. This new section of road will also aid traffic flow to and from the Tate County waste management facility located near our new production operation.
The Perry Plant began serving the area in the Summer of 2006 and is one our largest plants.
